Nashville Predators defenseman Mark Borowiecki was stretchered off the ice in the second period of Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers at Bridgestone Arena after awkwardly hitting the boards.

Borowiecki hit the boards and lost his balance, and Flyers forward Morgan Frost appeared to finish his check as Borowiecki was off-balance.

The Preds defenseman stayed on the ice for several minutes as team medical personnel secured him on a stretcher and helped him off the ice.

Borowiecki “was conscious and had movement in all of his extremities” and was taken to a local hospital “for further testing and observation,” according to the team.
