Our testing methodology for winter coats:
For this guide, I tested each jacket in the real world over the course of the last winter season (some for even longer). During the coldest months of the year, I considered the warmth, water resistance, comfort, bulkiness, style, and price when testing the jackets. While many of the jackets are designed for more technical use, my testing was based on every day wear — as the average person would wear them — outside of a controlled environment.
